What is Patchwerk?

Patchwerk is a micro business and sewing studio specializing in quilting and bag making. We offer pdf patterns paired with how to videos. Our focus is on intuitive, fun, and one of a kind makes. Our philosophy is, simply, fuck around and figure it out. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This business comes from a love of handwork, historical feminism around women’s work, DIY culture, and queer coded craft. We strive to help create a world free of gatekeeping, where permission isn’t required and a hierarchy doesn’t rule everything.

We want to make more things, wear more things, and experience more things that bring all of us more joy and delight.

Patchwerk bloomed in November 2025, but the idea was planted in December 2012 when Teresa finished her first crochet hat and realized that she wanted to write patterns. After some false starts, trails and tribulations, self doubt and lack of time. She finally realized, “want to” is good enough to start.

Teresa Fiehn Millies is the founder, owner, creative director, lead designer, lead sewist, videographer, copy writer, and DIY pusher at the heart of Patchwerk. Teresa is a craft skill hoarder. She has been sewing since she was small. Sitting near her grandmother playing with her scraps from her quilts. She began writting her own crochet and sewing patterns in 2013 on her first blog, Daisies for Violet. Featuring simple sewing and crafts DIYs. She has since become an award winning quilter, the author of the Quilter’s Inspiration Deck published by C&T Publishing, and shown quilts at Quiltcon and Quilt Week Paducha. You can find her work on instagram @queen.of.marigold and teresafiehnmillies.com
